Strength and Corrdination with Mike Okada

Meet Mike Okada!! Mike is the strength and conditioning coach for the Ontario Giants. This component is a key factor and building block to the Ontario Giants on field success. Mike brings along a lot of valuable experience and knowledge on kinetic movement. Click here for Mike's bio Mike Okada

Baseball is about explosive power and movement. The ability to throw a ball,  hit a ball, run the bases and track down a ball is all explosive kinetic movement. 

Our SnC program starts in October and will run until April. Giving our players opportunity to build upon their abilities. 

Assessments: fms and performance testing FMS is a movement and bio mechanic assessment to help see how the athlete moves and to see if there are any improper movement patterns Performance testing is a test that will see where they are at for strength, power, speed and agility. 

Individual programming: Programs will be specifically for that individual athlete to be come better and strong in their sport. 

Daily questionnaire tracks hydration, sleep, nutrition and recovery 

Take away programs ( at home workouts or gym) Eating and nutrition: Educating each athlete in their eating habits on what to eat and drink and how often they should be doing so. 

Programming includes: 1. Dynamic , activation and mobility stretching 2. Re correcting (example improving and shoulder issues with mobility; strengthening, stretching and stabilizing) body mechanic 3. Working on speed work ; foot work ladder drills ,running techniques and change of directions) 4. Power ; working on upper and lower body power
